Holloway Lecture
This year’s Holloway Lecture, heralding the start of the NCS Stem Festival, was delivered by Professor David Clifton.
Professor Clifton is Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Science of the University of Oxford, Research Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Visiting Chair in AI for Healthcare at the University of Manchester, and a Fellow of Fudan University, China. He took as his theme ‘What has Artificial Intelligence ever done for us?’ and surveyed the territory of AI and robotics, from medicine to art to engineering. His coverage was so vast and entertaining that the audience could not quite believe how much he managed to cover in just an hour. The Holloway Lecture was endowed by the Holloway family, long-standing members of the NCS community, the last of whose sons left the school in 2010.
