SHTEAM Festival: The World of Water
We celebrated our annual SHTEAM festival on The World of Water with an action-packed week in March.
The boys were able to enjoy an incredible array of lessons, workshops, talks and activities throughout the week looking at all aspects of why water is so important. Talks ranged from conserving marine wildlife, purification of water for drinking, and climate change and flooding. We learnt why water is “supercool” and had a visit from the RNLI who talked all about their important work. The younger boys had fantastic workshops on designing water wheels and constructing rafts. The older boys enjoyed a visit from the Department of Earth Sciences who ran a workshop on how we can use fossil evidence to learn about the climate and precipitation in the past. We had an inspirational talk from Paralympian Louise Hunt-Skelley about how water impacts her life, and were lucky enough to have a sneak preview of a new film about the waterways of Oxford from Merton Artist in Residence, Bevis Bowden. We said the same thing last year, but it is going to be a hard act to follow looking ahead to SHTEAM 2025!
