‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’
New College Cloisters provided the perfect setting for Year 8 to perform together as a group one final time in their playreading of an abridged version of William Shakespeare’s magical (and, at times, absurd) comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. With limited rehearsal time, the boys had to draw on their collaboration skills to bring Athens and its adjacent woods to life. Fortunately, by this stage of their education, NCS boys are very proficient at navigating Shakespeare’s language and blank verse. Unlike the rude mechanicals’ audience of baffled Athenians, we are sure that Year 8’s parents, friends, and staff would have been delighted to have an epilogue.
