The idea of the Spring Service is, a bit like the Christmas Carol Services, to bring the whole school together with NCS families in the chapel, enjoying some communal singing, readings, and the opportunity to hear all of the NCS choirs from pre-prep all the way up to the senior choir. The readings were chosen to invoke a sense of Spring, with musings on the season from the likes of Ali Smith and Frances Hodgson Burnett. Following the service, the boys stayed in College for our annual College Day, with unrivalled access once the students had gone home and before the conference guests arrived. College Day also includes some visits to those venues that are just a stone’s throw from New College, including the Weston Library and the Botanic Gardens. It is a real joy being an integral part of an institution like New College and, as its youngest members, it is always great for the boys to be welcomed so warmly to enjoy its treasures.
