Thanks to the generosity of Dr Frankie Wilson, Head of Assessment and Secretariat at the Bodleian Library, all of Year 8/8S got to spend an afternoon looking behind the scenes of the library and carrying out some of their own historical research using some of the Bodleian’s original holdings from the English Civil War. The science behind the Bodleian’s book preservation was especially interesting, as was the technological equipment set up to identify colours and pigments in ancient tomes. You’d be surprised what goes on behind those walls! MTJ
