Year 5 were delighted to have the opportunity to attend a live webinar run by Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on Space Physics. The session was presented from the Boulby Underground Laboratory which is located 1.1km below ground in Boulby mine in the North East of England. From deep in the mine, the Boulby team carry out research on a wide variety of scientific areas: from searching for dark matter and testing robotics for future space exploration, to studying different materials and investigating the possibility of alien life. During the webinar, we got to see inside the lab, and saw some of the equipment that the scientists use to study dark matter.
