To complement their study of Pompeii, Year 5 visited the Ashmolean Museum in Michaelmas term. The boys were able to come face to face with objects they had read about and to enhance their understanding of daily life in the ancient world. Ashwin writes:
In January Year 6 were treated to a talk from Mr Brian Whittenbury from Gardiners opticians.
Year 7 were delighted to welcome Dr Liz Jenkinson from Biocleave Ltd into their science lesson in November.
As part of their studies on Opera, Year 7 took a trip to the New Theatre to watch a performance of The Cunning Little Vixen as part of the 2019 touring season given by Welsh Nation Opera.
Years 7 and 8 had a fantastic time rehearsing and performing Henry IV, Part 1 in the splendid surroundings of New College Chapel.
On Wednesday 13 November a small group of intrepid readers from Years 3- 6 embarked on a journey to Oxford High School.
September saw the visit of renowned music physiologist specialist, Michael Griffin, to NCS.
During Trinity Year 8 and 8S boys spent one of their lunchtime activities planning a Science lesson to teach to boys lower down in the school.
Once again, the boys in 8S worked towards their Bronze CREST Awards after the scholarship exams were finished.
It has been a busy year for the Eco Committee which involved yet another inspection from Eco Schools to confirm that we were still eligible to fly our EcoSchools Flag.
After initially feeling rather bereft without the rest of the prep school, Year 3 soon realised that they were the first to the goal posts and were actually able to stay there for the duration of break time - back of the net!
